LAKE ANDERSON
(www.northeastvictoria.online)
Lake Anderson adjoins the historic township of Chiltern and is a short walk from the town centre. This small, ornamental Lake is fed by a number of small, local creeks that drain into Black Dog Creek, and thence the Lower Ovens River.
Chiltern can be accessed via the Beechworth - Chiltern Road (C377) which has Hume Freeway exits in both directions. VR35 has the details.
Lake Anderson Caravan Park is right alongside the Lake and provides great access to the lakeshores, as does the nearby parklands. The usual day visitor amenities are provided on the western (that is, township) side of the Lake.
The best time to go paddling is during the spring; not only does this mean a good water level but also the opportunity to enjoy the wildflowers in the nearby bushland.
