LAKE GUY

This is a small and very picturesque lake adjacent to Bogong Village, both of which are accessible via the Bogong High Plains Road, 16km from Mount Beauty.

The level of the Lake rises and falls to meet the operating requirements of the Kiewa Hydro Scheme, however the rate of rise and fall is slow. loading...

If the Lake is full there are grassy banks for launching boats, near the gardens and picnic area, and as the level of the Lake falls mud banks become exposed. A small island in the centre of the Lake makes an interesting venue to paddle out to.

Another interesting area is where the Rocky Valley and Pretty Valley branches of the East Kiewa River enter the Lake.

The area close to the Dam Wall is a prohibited boating area, and is easy to avoid.

Camping is not allowed in Bogong Village, the nearest formal grounds are at Mount Beauty and Tawonga, both on the banks of the Kiewa River.

After paddling on the Lake there is additional entertainment in the form of Devonshire Tea at the Cafe, or a walk around the Lake. The walking track [AWTGS-2] winds around the lake, through to the dam wall, and gives very scenic views of the lake and village; the return route is by retracing your steps.
