Warby Heritage Trail [AWTGS-3]
This is a seven kilometre walk, with a start/finish at "Car Park #1" adjacent to Taminick Winery.
The Heritage Trail loops in and out of the range country behind the Winery, and provides a very enjoyable, and interesting, walk of about three hours.
There are storyboards located throughout the walk, and these provide excellent background to the Heritage Trail.
The Warby Family were amongst the first settlers in this area, and the Heritage Trail provides many interesting details of this period in local history.
Given the narrowness of the first few sections, with a sustained climb, it is recommended that walkers use trekking poles on this walk.
Initial vehicle access is from Taminick Gap Road, and then following the road-signs to the Winery, the turn-off to the start being just beyond the final turn-off to the winery.
Leaving the car park, follow the signage (see photo) that will direct you upslope, along the forest edge, to a t-junction.
Turn left here, and begin a gradual descent to the environs of the winery.
Swing right at some more signage (and a storyboard) and follow this narrow footpad as it leads to a secluded valley.
This leads up the valley where there are several scenic cascades, and then to the old sheep dip site, passing old dry stone weirs, more cascades and rock pools.
Continuing upslope, a disused roadway is encountered (where you need to swing right) and then Booths Road, where another right turn is required.
The route then follows Spot Mill Track, then descends along Cellar Track before encountering the sign-posted turn-off (to the left) to get back to Car Park #1.
The excellent Taminick Winery is only a short distance from here, and is well worth a visit.
