Chick Hill via Wirrinya Avenue [AWTGS-3]
This is a 2.2km walk, with a start/finish at the junction of Wirrinya Avenue and Taaffe Road, near Hamilton Park.
The walk is graded as AWTGS-3 and requires a formal set of walking shoes/boots and trekking poles.
There is a small amount of car parking space at the junction referred to above, and the best access is via Warby Range Road, and the Wirrinya Avenue turn-off (access via Taaffe Road is not the best).
The pathway leads upwards for much of its length, with some flattish sections, and it takes about 45 minutes to complete the 1.1km trail, and to reach the Chick Hill Lookout.
There are plenty of rocks, and fallen tree branches, to sit on at the Lookout, and the views of the Ovens-King Floodplain are amazing.
Unless you have organised a car shuttle, the return journey is via a long descent that retraces the original climb.
Expectedly, there are some great views on the descent, but take care to not walk and gawk at the same time.
[Assuming that a car shuttle has been organised, then the second part of the walk could be to follow the access track from the Lookout to Ridge Track.
Turn right here, and follow Ridge Track through to Taminick Gap, the recommended car shuttle point; this is a total of about four kilometres from Wirrinya Avenue.
Another option is to follow Ridge Track through to Mount Glenrowan, and then return via the same route. See the Mount Glenrowan description for more details of these options.]
