TRAVELLING TIME: Allow a very full day, but preferably have at least one overnight stop en route.

SHOPS and SERVICES: Bright has a good range of shops and services, as does Mount Beauty. Omeo has several fuel outlets, a small supermarket and some nice eateries. At the top of the hill, Mount Hotham has a mini-mart and a fuel outlet, whilst Dinner Plain has a mini-mart, but no fuel outlet. Harrietville has a general store, and a fuel outlet.
ACCOMMODATION: Bright has a wide range of accommodation options, including riverside caravan parks; Mount Beauty has a good range of holiday accommodation, including a riverside caravan park. The Blue Duck Inn (on the Cobungra River) has lodge style accommodation, and Omeo has motels, two hotels, apartments and a caravan park.

Harrietville has a very enjoyable riverside caravan parks, as well as motels and cabin accommodation. Freeburgh also has a riverside caravan park, as well as some holiday cottages.
WHEN TO GO: The roadway is closed during the winter months because of snow coverage; this makes the warmer months the best time for travel on this route.
ROADWAY DETAILS: A good bitumen surface all the way, albeit narrow in places, with some tight bends on Tawonga Gap, on the climb up from Mount Beauty, on the descent towards Omeo, and the descent into Harrietville. Overall, this route is not suitable for caravans, large motorhomes or any large vehicle.
